How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in cPanel

Secure your cPanel account by enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using the free Google Authenticator app. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code from your mobile device during login.

Step 1: Install Google Authenticator

You’ll need the Google Authenticator app installed on your smartphone:

Step 2: Enable 2FA from cPanel

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. Scroll down to the “Security” section.

  3. Click on “Two-Factor Authentication.”

  4. Click the “Set Up Two-Factor Authentication” button.

  5. A QR code will appear on your screen.

Step 3: Scan QR Code and Verify

  1. Open the Google Authenticator app.

  2. Tap the "+" icon → select “Scan a QR code.”

  3. Point your phone’s camera at the screen.

  4. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the app into the cPanel prompt.

  5. Click “Configure Two-Factor Authentication.”

✅ That’s it! 2FA is now active for your cPanel login.

What Happens Next?

The next time you log in to cPanel, you'll enter your username and password plus the 6-digit code from your Google Authenticator app.

Tip: If you lose access to your authenticator app, you’ll need to contact support to reset 2FA.
